Captivating portraits that transport you to different places and times
I'm Daryl and I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the State University of New York at Geneseo, where I specialized in oil painting and drawing. After graduation, I decided to get a Masters of Fine Arts and a teaching degree. I spent thirty years educating students from kindergarten through twelfth grade in the joys of making Art. Since retirement, I have decided to concentrate on my painting full time. Did I mention my love of hockey?
Throughout my life I have always enjoyed the challenge of drawing and painting faces. Especially those of athletes and pop culture icons that have influenced me in some way. Such as the late great Johnny Bower of the Toronto Maple Leafs. I would say my style is realistic, an idealized version of realism.
I prefer to paint on wood surfaces. All of my portraits are drawn and painted by hand incorporating the same process that has been in use for over 500 years. I love to paint on guitars, hockey sticks or wood panels. When you see an oil portrait in person, it comes to life like no other. That is my goal, to create a one of a kind work of art. Please contact me if you would like to commission a work of art.
